Congratulations to everyone receiving their A Level geography results today.
Published this morning, this year’s results show an increase in the number of students sitting A Level geography exams, despite a decrease in the overall number of 18 year olds. 34,960 students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland sat the exams this year – an increase of 4.2% compared to 2018.
Head of Education and Outdoor Learning at the Society, Steve Brace, said: “The Society is delighted to see almost 1,500 more young people sitting A Level geography this year. A Level geography includes study of the carbon cycle, geo-politics and how places change, making it a highly relevant subject for today’s students who want to enhance their understanding of the world.
"In addition, it directly supports many different options for further study and careers, and geographers enjoy above average rates for graduate employment and earnings. The Society congratulates the students receiving their grades today, which are testament to their hard work and the support of their teachers.”
If you know someone celebrating their A Level results, our Young Geographer membership is the perfect gift to celebrate their success.
