Earlier this year, the Society’s Council approved the formation of a Professional Advisory Group, to advise Council and senior staff on the development and delivery of our strategy, policy and activity as a professional body and with practising geographers.
Our current work in this area includes: Chartered Geographer, our professional accreditation scheme; support for geographers in schools, universities and professional practice, including advocacy for the skills and professionalism they offer; knowledge exchange work, which highlights the benefits of geography for policy- and decision-making in complex and sensitive areas; and a programme of events, communications and other engagement with Fellows, members and communities of students and professionals more widely. The Professional Advisory Group will support the Society in developing these, and other activities, further from 2020.
