We are delighted to announce the recent election of two new Research Group Representatives to the Society’s Research and Higher Education (RHE) Committee.
Dr Sophie Cranston of the Population Geography Research Group (2019-2021) and Dr Johanna Waters of the Gender and Feminist Geographies Research Group (2019-2022) were both elected by their peers across the Research Group committees. They will join the RHE committee from September this year, alongside Steve Darby of the British Society for Geomorphology who continues in the role until 2020.
The Research and Higher Education Committee plays an important role in the governance of the Society, alongside the Education Committee, the Expeditions and Fieldwork Committee, and the Finance Committee. Each committee considers matters of strategy and implementation relating to their specific areas of expertise, and advise the Society’s Council and staff.
A number of roles on the Society’s Council are up for election this year, including roles which also sit on these key committees. Current Fellows of the Society are encouraged to vote in these elections and ballot papers will be sent out shortly.
