Alf (‘Greg’) Gregory died on 9 February 2010, aged 96. He will be remembered as the official stills photographer on the first successful ascent of Everest in 1953 and as a keen mountaineer.
His remarkable portfolio of photographs was used to illustrate the many subsequent books about the Everest expedition.
