This August, the Society is updating its digital infrastructure and moving to a new membership database. As our database is linked to our website, some web functionality will be unavailable from the afternoon of Friday 11 August to the afternoon of Wednesday 16 August as the new database is installed and connections with the website are tested.
During this period any action that needs our website to connect to our database will not work, including:

logging in to the website

accessing member-only resources, including School Member teaching and learning resources

watching member-only event recordings
-
booking events
-
joining the Society online (you can download forms to use instead)
-
renewing your membership
-
accessing the digital edition of Geographical magazine

accessing our scholarly journals (you can still access them via your institution, if relevant)
Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
During the downtime, the Society’s staff, in particular those in the membership and web teams, will be very busy so enquiries may take a little longer to receive a response.
Once everything is back online, members will need to reset their password to log in to the website. We will send more details on how to do this nearer the time, but if you have any problems with resetting your password or logging in to the website after 16 August, please email webmaster@rgs.org.
This is the first step in the digital infrastructure improvements planned for this year. In mid-October, our new website is due to go live and we will update you on that closer to the time.
