Susan Band passed away on 20 April, aged 81, after a period of ill health. Susan was a close friend of the Society, trustee of the Himalayan Mountain Trust UK and wife of George Band, a member of the 1953 Everest expedition.
Susan was a dedicated geographer, with a particular interest in the Himalayas, and strived to help improve the education and health provision in the more remote Himalayan villages, far from the main trails.
