Weddings

A beautiful setting to celebrate your special day.

Our beautiful period building, right in the heart of London, is the ideal intimate setting to organise your dream wedding for up to 100 guests. A combination of classic red brick with modern twists, the Royal Geographical Society's building was designed by famous architect Norman Shaw and stands the test of time to remain iconic today.

Enjoy your special day at the Society with a stunning seated ceremony in our grand Main Hall, a show stopping room original to William Lowther’s Lowther Lodge. Celebrate in style with a drinks reception in our charming Map Room followed by a wedding breakfast in our spacious Education Centre, opening out onto our beautiful outdoor terrace. Exclusive venue hire additionally includes access to four supporting rooms – whether you need them to get ready in, meet with your registrar, or let your DJ prepare for the party, we are here to help your day run seamlessly.

Event spaces

Wedding packages at the Society include exclusive hire of all the venue’s spaces so the building is dedicated to your special day.

The grand Main Hall with original wooden floors and a fireplace is an elegant space to tie the knot. It’s the ideal spot for a wedding ceremony of up to 100 guests, as well as an evening reception later in the day.

The charming Map Room with its beautiful bay windows is a spacious area to welcome your guests and host a celebratory drinks reception.

Our Education Centre transforms into a lovely space for a wedding breakfast, opening out to our terraced garden to enjoy in fine weather.

You can also enjoy use of four private rooms, the Council, Lowther, Drayson and Sunley Rooms, throughout the day at your leisure.

To top the day off in style, gather your family and friends for a photograph on the Society’s prestigious Ondaatje Lecture Theatre stage.
