The Bloxham Sustainability Challenge (BSC) is a year-long programme connecting sixth form students across the UK with live sustainability and infrastructure projects set by industry partner Dalcour Maclaren, in collaboration with Esri UK, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Pearson. Students work as environmental consultants on real briefs, using Esri's ArcGIS Online for Schools to analyse data, map constraints and present evidence-based recommendations to industry judging panels.
The result is genuine work experience without leaving the classroom: students build the geospatial, analytical and presentation skills employers ask for, with industry mentoring throughout.
Learning resources and technology are provided free of charge, and each year the Challenge launches at the Royal Geographical Society, livestreamed to all participating schools so that attendance is not determined by travel budgets or location.
