About
Still early in my career, I am a GIS Analyst after finishing Jacobs' Graduate Development Programme. I have worked at Jacobs for 2.5 years, starting after completing my MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing. I previously completed a BSc in Exploration Geology, where COVID-19 led to me completing most of my fieldwork remotely - where I discovered my love for GIS.

Current or most recent role
I work with various data types and manipulate them to suit mine and colleagues' needs. I work with web-based applications to create platforms and hubs that are useful to clients and other parts of the business. I also make a lot of maps and figures for use in reports.
Previous experience
I have spoken about GIS on a 'Women in GIS' panel. I have also supported classroom activities in Kingussie as part of a 'Town Planning Day' event - the HS is fairly remote and engagement is pushed by Jacobs to schools along the A9 corridor. I have also attended career fairs and presented on the uses of GIS to geography classes in local Edinburgh HS's.
Why I want to become a professional ambassador
I would like to be a Professional Ambassador to help support my continued professional development both within my work space and outside of it. I wish I had someone to speak to me about my current discipline when I was in school, as I am so passionate about it now and wonder what I would have thought about it 10 years ago!
Types of activities
- Talking about current job and career pathway
- Attending a careers fair
- Running activities about my career sector and the opportunities available; talking about what geographical skills I use at work and how geography is used in the 'real world'
- Inspiring young people to choose geography
