Ciril Jazbec is a Slovenian photographer and film director whose work explores how communities respond to the forces of globalization and the climate crisis. For over a decade, he has worked extensively in the Arctic, documenting the lives of Inuit people and their profound relationship with a rapidly changing environment.

His recent project, Dream to Cure Glaciers, spans the Himalayas, Alps, and Andes, following communities as they adapt and find resilience in the face of environmental transformation.

Ciril holds an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication. His work has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize (2025), World Press Photo Award (2021), Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award (2013), inclusion in Magnum’s 30 Under 30 (2015), and the Pictures of the Year International World Understanding Award (2018).

His short film Dream to Cure Water has been recognized globally, winning the Jackson Wild Media Award (2023), Santiago Wild (2024), and INFF (2024).

Since 2013, Ciril has been a contributing photographer and filmmaker for National Geographic Magazine and is a National Geographic Explorer. He also contributes to The New York Times, TIME, GEO and leads TENT Film, an award-winning production studio.

Ciril’s work have been exhibited internationally at renowned institutions and festivals including National Portrait Gallery London, Les Rencontres d’Arles, Visa pour l’Image, Photoville,The New York Public Library,  PhEST, Format Festival, The Annenberg Space for Photography, Newseum, East Wing Gallery, Lumen Museum, Musée nationale de l’histoire de l’immigration Paris  and The Royal Geographical Society, among others.
