On 10 May 1897 Isabella Bird was engaged to lecture on Western China at the Society in London.

Jacki Hill-Murphy, author of The Life and Travels of Isabella Bird, recreates that lecture, using Isabella’s original magic lantern slides, and discusses her solo world travels and how she survived many dangers.
