With a US student visa in hand, Zeinab Rezaie risks all to get to the airport on the day after the Taliban took control. She speaks about the collapse of her country, women’s rights, endurance, and becoming the first Afghan triathlete to compete in an Ironman World Championship.

This recording is from our annual Geographical journeys: microlectures event, where seven speakers had just 10 minutes each to share their geographical journeys in an illustrated talk.

The event was organised by the Society’s Younger Members' Committee.

The Society aims to provide automatically-generated captions for all event recordings. The captions appear as text at the bottom of the video which you can toggle on and off. The accuracy of automatically-generated captions varies depending on the audio quality, any specialist language used and the speaker. They are therefore are unlikely to be 100% accurate and the Society does not edit or correct automatically-generated captions.
