Meet our speakers

Professor Johanna Waters is Professor of Human Geography at University College London and Co-Director of the UCL Migration Research Unit. Her work explores migration, education, families, and youth, with a particular focus on how mobility reshapes social inequalities across borders.

Professor Giorgia Doná is Professor of Migration and Refugee Studies at the University of East London and Co-Director of the Centre for Migration, Refugees and Belonging. She is an expert on global refugee movements, child and youth migration, and digital migration. Her research adopts a people-centred perspective to examine borders, place-making and well-being.

Professor Nando Sigona is Professor of International Migration and Forced Displacement at the University of Birmingham and an expert on migration governance, irregular migration, and citizenship. His research examines how migration policies shape the lived experiences of migrants, refugees, and mobile communities across Europe and beyond.
