Join like-minded explorers and intrepid field researchers at the Society for the 50th edition of the UK's only dedicated exploration community gathering and expedition planning weekend, packed with inspiring talks, specialist workshops, knowledge sharing opportunities, and a rare chance to connect with others planning and making purposeful journeys of discovery.
Whether you're planning your first challenging overseas adventure, developing a new field research project, or simply looking for ways to leave a positive trace as a curious traveller, this unique event is for you.

Friday 6 November
- First-timer orientation sessions and building tours
- All-day access to our Collections via the Foyle Reading Room
- Admission to the Explore 50th anniversary celebratory evening talks
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November
- Entry to all keynote talks and main stage panel discussions
- Choice of breakout seminars and workshops
- Full access to advice desks, exhibitors’ areas and networking sessions
- Lunches and refreshments throughout the day (most dietary requirements can be catered for)
Beyond the weekend
- A full year’s introductory Associate Fellow or Student membership of the RGS (non-members only)

Making a booking
- Advance booking for this event is required. In order to book you will need an account on our website. If you already have an account you will be prompted to log in when you click 'book now'. Please create an account if you do not have one yet (you do not need to be a member of the Society to create an account).
- Due to the administration involved, we are unable to provide invoices for this event. Payment must be taken at the time of booking.
- We do not issue tickets (electronic or physical) for this event. Instead your name will be on a list at the door.
- The deadline to purchase early-bird ticket prices is Friday 31 July.
