Jim McAdam first went to the Falklands in 1976 as part of a three-person team to set up an agricultural research station in this remote British overseas Territory.

In 1983, just after the Falklands War, he was asked to go back to islands temporarily to help rehabilitate the agricultural research programme and has visited on an almost annual basis since.

He has visited the Falklands 50 times and currently is working with the Falkland Islands Government, environmental NGOs and land owners on a Land Recovery Programme to cope with the rapidly escalating impacts of climate change on the Islands.
