Dub Beck flows into Loweswater and was previously heavily modified, with the channel straightened and artificially raised above the surrounding land. These
changes disconnected the river from its natural floodplain, increased the amount of sediment entering the lake, and provided limited habitat for wildlife.

In 2020, restoration work was undertaken to renaturalise the river and reconnect it with its floodplain.
