Amelia Steele is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, photographer and content strategist working across the polar regions, high mountains and wild landscapes closer to home in the UK. Her work sits at the intersection of adventure, exploration and authentic storytelling, with a particular focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and broadening perceptions of who belongs in the outdoors.
She is co-founder of Dykeing Boots, a Brighton-based hiking community for LGBTQ+ people and allies, organising and leading monthly hikes across the South Downs National Park. Through building this thriving community, she champions visibility, representation and the importance of creating welcoming spaces where people can experience the outdoors on their own terms.
Amelia’s filmmaking combines cinematic landscape and action imagery with intimate, character-led storytelling, often exploring the relationship between people, place and adventure. In spring 2026, she shot Girls Trip, a documentary following an all-female team on a rare 20-day ski crossing of northwest Svalbard, which is currently in post-production.
Later that year, Amelia received a scholarship to join Pink Summits, an LGBTQ+ mountaineering organisation, on an expedition to Kyrgyzstan to attempt to summit Pik Lenin and fly the Progress Pride flag from its summit. The experience brought together her passion for high-altitude exploration and her commitment to challenging barriers to inclusion in mountaineering.
Across her work, Amelia explores how adventure can create connection, challenge assumptions and make space for different experiences and perspectives. She is passionate about making exploration more inclusive, both through the stories we tell and by creating opportunities for more people to experience the outdoors and its benefits first-hand.
