Professor Gina Moseley is an explorer, expedition leader, and geoscientist working in some of the world's most remote and challenging environments. She is a Rolex Laureate, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, National Geographic Explorer, and the central protagonist of the IMAX film Ancient Caves. Her contributions to exploration and science have been recognised through numerous international awards.

For more than a decade, Gina has developed and led the Greenland Caves Project, resulting in four pioneering expeditions in 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2023. These expeditions have explored, documented, and sampled previously unknown caves in northern Greenland, revealing mineral deposits that preserve remarkable records of ancient Arctic climate. The discoveries from these remote caves are providing new insights into how the Arctic responded to past periods of warmth and are helping improve our understanding of environmental change in a future warmer world.

Coming from a background far removed from exploration, Gina's journey has been shaped by curiosity, determination, and persistence. The first Greenland Caves Project expedition brought together support from 59 sponsors, reflecting the considerable challenge of undertaking scientific exploration in one of the world's most inaccessible landscapes. Over the following years, Gina continued to build the Project while also navigating motherhood and raising her daughter alongside the challenges of leading Arctic expeditions.

The 2023 expedition represented the culmination of years of planning and logistical preparation. The team entered a cave that had first been identified and photographed during aerial reconnaissance in 1958, but which had remained unexplored for more than six decades. Reaching the cave required overcoming considerable logistical challenges in the High Arctic, and together the expedition team became the first to enter and document this previously unexplored underground environment.
