Megan Hine is an expedition leader, survival consultant and risk management specialist who has spent more than 20 years working in remote and challenging environments around the world.
Her career sits at the intersection of exploration, human behaviour and risk. She has led expeditions and worked behind the scenes on some of the world’s most ambitious adventure and factual television productions, supporting teams and talent in environments ranging from jungles, mountains and deserts to polar regions.
Megan’s work is rooted in the belief that effective risk management is not about removing risk or adventure. Done well, it creates the conditions in which people can push boundaries, make better decisions and undertake ambitious expeditions responsibly.
Alongside her practical field experience, Megan has a background in psychology and professional adventure and health and safety qualifications, bringing an understanding of human behaviour, decision-making and group dynamics to expedition planning and leadership. She is particularly interested in how people perceive risk, how judgement changes under pressure, and why human factors are often as important as technical hazards in determining an expedition’s success.
She is also an author, speaker and presenter, and continues to design and lead expeditions internationally, encouraging others to approach wild places with curiosity, competence and respect.
