Biography
Alec is a Senior Catastrophe Research Analyst, focusing on natural hazards and climate change with Aon across Australia-NZ as well as Asia. Alec has a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Otago and an MSc(Hons) in Hazard and Disaster Management from the University of Canterbury. While undertaking his master's research, he became passionate about combining his computational background with GIS technology to assess natural hazards and their risks. Alec has 10 years of experience in evaluating the impact from natural hazards to infrastructure and built environment across both industry and research. Alec has been studying part-time towards a PhD since 2017, researching the development of an evacuation decision-support model before a volcanic eruption.
