Biography

Head of spatial analysis and data science in the Environment, Science and Analysis division of the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs leading on cross-cutting analysis related to environmental policies and rural issues, and Head of the Government Geography Profession in core Defra. Formerly a lead data scientist at the Data Science Campus of ONS and a leader in geographic analysis in a number of government departments working on areas such as area-based targeting of education policy, local economic growth, and housing. Prior to government, an academic researcher in GIScience with interests in generalisation of geographic information, location-based services, and analysis of place through unstructured data.
