Biography
Dr Andrew Lee is an Honorary Lecturer in the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Education at University College London and a former Geography teacher with nearly 40 years' experience in leading independent schools in the UK, Australia and China. He holds a DPhil in Geography from the University of Oxford, where he studied the social and cultural geography of cities under Professor David Harvey. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and a Chartered Geographer. He is Director of UK Operations for the Oxford Climate Alumni Network (OxCAN), where he works to strengthen connections between Oxford's climate research community, Oxford alumni and wider society. His current research and writing explore how climate crisis content can be communicated to young people in ways that are scientifically rigorous, psychologically informed and educationally effective. His work promotes constructive optimism while encouraging critical thinking and helping young people develop the agency, agility, sagacity and resilience needed to understand complexity, evaluate competing perspectives and respond thoughtfully to a rapidly changing world.
