Biography
Helen leads the JBA Social Value and Engagement Team and sits in the Climate and Sustainability team based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. She has a background in physical geography with a PhD in fluvial geomorphology but has worked for over 12 years in the areas of social and environmental science. Helen is experienced in flood risk management, with significant research into social resilience. Helen led research to develop and operationalise a set of metrics for the Environment Agency that can be used at the local and national level to track changes in resilience to flooding and coastal change. She recently project managed the development of a Coastal Home Assurance Scheme for North Norfolk District Council as part of the Coastwise project funded by Defra. Helen has also been involved in several projects focusing on natural capital baseline assessment and optioneering and is skilled in stakeholder engagement.
