Dr James Duffy CGeog (GI)

Biography

I am a senior member of the spatial data science team in Defra. My role is to conduct large scale, novel analyses of spatial data to derive evidence based statistics and outputs which help support policy makers in their decision making. I lead on projects focussed on access to nature, which seek to quantify the provision of access to green and blue spaces across England. I also take the lead on technical skills development within the team, regularly sharing new techniques with colleagues and mentoring others. Another part of my role involves liaising with our central analytical teams, to champion spatial data analysis and ensure we are supported in terms of both technology and data provision.
