Biography
Dr Jason Hopkins is the Earth Observation (EO) Specialist at Ordnance Survey. He obtained his undergraduate degree and PhD in Oceanography from the University of Southampton, where he specialised in the use of EO data to understand the characteristics of phytoplankton in the global ocean. He then moved to the US to undertake post-doctoral research on a NASA funded project. He joined Ordnance Survey in 2018 and leads the EO Research team, focussing on developing new capabilities for the national mapping agency that leverage the value of EO data. He has experience in a range of EO products, is a champion for the aggregation of EO and geospatial data to deliver information and advises on a number of national and international EO projects.
