Biography
John has over 15 years’ professional experience in GIS and remote sensing applications in the (re)insurance and disaster risk management (DRM) sectors. He is a Technical Director at JBA Consulting where he has worked since 2016, leading on business development around international DRM projects, including flood forecasting, flood modelling, remote sensing, and software development. He also leads JBA’s remote sensing team. Prior to JBA, John spent eight years at ImageCat, developing geospatial tools for exposure data development, field data capture, and remote sensing-based damage assessment (> 20 major disasters on five continents). John has a BSc in Geography, MSc in GIS and remote sensing (both from University of Ulster) and a PhD in remote sensing (University of Southampton)
