Biography

John is a coastal and fluvial geomorphologist with 15 years experience in both professional and academic environments, specialising in field geomorphology and data collection solutions. He is currently Senior Geomorphologist at WSP, and holds a PhD in coastal geomorphology and archaeology from the University of Edinburgh, focusing on rapid coastline change and the implications for Norse harbour abandonment in the North Atlantic. He is an expert in remote and logistically challenging fieldwork, having undertaken both professional and academic fieldwork in the Outer Hebrides, Shetland, remote areas of Iceland, Greenland, tropical Australia and the north-east United States. He is experienced in hydrology, 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling as well as sediment transport modelling for both coastal and fluvial projects.
