Biography
I am a Senior Geomechanics Scientist, Engineering Geology Team Leader and Lead Scientist in the Geomechanics Laboratory at GNS Science in New Zealand. I have over 15 years international research and consultancy experience. My research focuses on landslide failure mechanisms and fault behaviour in response to elevated pore fluid pressures and earthquake shaking. These studies combine specialist laboratory testing on soils and soft rocks with field monitoring and remote sensing to better understand hillslope and fault processes and their future behaviour. I have professional expertise in geological, geomorphological and geohazard assessments including route optimisation and site feasibility studies, development geohazard risk registers, and the development of detailed ground models to evaluate unforeseen ground conditions. My field experience has been gained in a range of international environments including upland, fluvial, coastal, tropical and dryland locations
