Biography
Dr. Kit-Ying Ng is a Chartered geographer (specialising in geomorphology) and a Chartered Geologist with expertise in geohazards assessment and mitigation. She holds a BA in Physical Geography, MPhil in Slope Geomorphology from the University of Hong Kong and a PhD in Landslide Hazard Assessment from Durham University. Following almost 16 years with Arup, where she progressed to Senior Geologist/Geomorphologist and worked on major infrastructure and geohazard projects across Hong Kong and the UK, she developed extensive experience in applying geomorphological and geological knowledge to complex engineering and environmental challenges. She also contributed to professional training and university teaching. Since 2023, Dr. Ng has been a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her teaching and research interests include physical geography, geomorphology, natural hazards, nature conservation and environmental sustainability, with a strong emphasis on bridging academic theory and professional practice.
