Biography

Mark Iliffe works with the United Nations Statistics Division on the use of geospatial information for sustainable development. He supports countries and expert communities working to better integrate geography, statistics, Earth observations and other data sources so that decisions are informed by timely, trusted and location-based evidence. He is presently Secretariat for the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names (UNGEGN) and supports the UN Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) and other issues related to the integration of statistical and geospatial information, with a focus on making global frameworks useful in practice for national priorities, the SDGs and the wider data ecosystem.
