Biography

"Michael is a Chartered Surveyor, Management Consultant and Academic. Michael has a BA (Hons) in Geography from University College Swansea (University of Wales), a Postgraduate Diploma in Land Surveying from University College London, an MBA from University of Warwick and a PhD in Business Studies, also from Warwick University. Michael has mostly worked in the oil and gas industry since first graduating and has undertaken many activities, primarily as a land and hydrographic surveyor, in areas including South America, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, South East Asia and Australia. His last full-time position as a Chartered Surveyor was with Total s.a. in France for ten years. Subsequently, Michael completed a full time PhD course of study at Warwick Business School where his research interests centred on strategic change in the oil and gas industry and the implications for geographical time and space. Although now retired, he is continuing his academic interests as an appointed Teaching Associate of Warwick Business School and is taking a greater interest in researching and writing on the regional history and geography (in conjunction with the educational college, Instituto Almadraba de Conil de la Frontera, with published material online) of where he currently lives which is in the province of Cadiz in Spain."
