Biography

Technical Director with responsibility for leading Moffatt & Nicholl's UK geomorphological portfolio and studies for the civil nuclear industry. He has particular interests in the simulation of long-term coastal morphology, the impacts of climate change, sustainable coastal management and the handling of uncertainty in decision making. He was co-developer of the Walkden & Dickson equation, which describes cliff sensitivity to increasing sea level rise, and also the Soft Cliff and Platform Erosion (SCAPE) morphological modelling tool. Mike is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Visiting Researcher with the British Geological Survey.
