River planning and design consultant, and AECOM Ltd’s Fluvial Geomorphology and River Restoration lead. Extensive experience in research and consultancy across the UK, Canada and New Zealand. PhD in sediment transport / particle dynamics, and Postdoctoral Fellowships in the UK and Canada. Published academic work on sediment transport, nutrient dispersal and bio-geomorphologic river habitats. Practitioner with the River Restoration Centre. Particular interests in nature recovery, gravel bed and salmonid rivers, river dynamics, erosion and sediment transport, river design especially enhanced recovery methods for self-evolving ecosystems, and river, floodplain, wetland, valley, and landscape restoration. Has led multiple river restoration projects that have been publicised in national press and won national awards.
