Biography
Dr Richard Johnson is Director of the ‘Hazard, Risk and Disaster Research Group’ (HRD) at Bath Spa University, UK (https://www.bathspa.ac.uk/research-andenterprise/research-centres/hazard-risk-and-disaster-research-group/). He has responsibility for teaching, research, consultancy and research/teaching administration at BSU. He is a member of university committees and was the REF2021 UoA14 lead. Externally he is a scientific editor for the Punjab Geographer (India). He is Principal Investigator for the bi-lateral UK-India UGC-UKIERI project ‘HiFLo-DAT’, which is investigating historical Indian Himalayan floods in partnership with Indian government agencies. He is also leading BSUs 2023 Turing Scheme Placements to India (Delhi & Uttarakhand). He is an upland/mountain geomorphologist, with specific expertise in the evaluation of sediment dynamics, hydro-meteorology, flood hazards, and mountain community risk management/resilience development.
