Biography
My career is focused on how we can reduce the risks of flooding, erosion and climate change and use that knowledge to make informed decisions that affect people’s lives. This comes from a deep sense of purpose that science and engineering can be used to create actionable science, whether in policy or practice. I enjoy thinking about complex decisions, policy changes and strategies on the coast, especially with climate change, and work across disciplines to deliver new science and actions. I have been fortunate to work as a researcher, lecturer, knowledge-exchange expert and now work as a coastal practitioner. To do this, I have lead and/or be part of teams in universities, a charity and national and local government, working with students to seasoned professionals to provide solutions, reduce coastal risk and ensuring the next generation of talent thrives.
