Biography

An experienced GIS specialist, Samantha Harrison-Curran’s background is in geoscience and geoinformatics, having studied Earth and Planetary Sciences at undergraduate level and then developed this knowledge with an MSc in Geographical Information Science. She holds a PhD in Planetary Sciences, having conducted research into the Medusae Fossae Formation of equatorial Mars, utilising GIS and remote sensing principles. Since then she has been involved in applied GIS in an ecology and earth science research setting before track changing into private sector GIS consultancy. She is now applying this wide range of experience to an applied GIS role in the public sector. Her special interests are the use of Python for automation/streamlining and the importance of coding standards and meaningful data attribution.
