Biography
I am a specialist in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing with over 25 years' experience in spatial data handling and analysis. My research centres on developing risk models for poverty mapping across large spatial scales, with particular interests in energy and food poverty. I also enjoy using remotely sensed data, such as LiDAR, to identify suitable locations for renewable technologies such as solar PV. Beyond my research, I have a strong interest in geographic outreach to post-primary schools and run an annual conference for Geography teachers, supporting the discipline at all levels of education. I teach across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in GIS, remote sensing and spatial data, combining academic expertise with a commitment to developing the next generation of geographers. I am a Chartered Geographer (GIS) and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS).
