Biography
I am a geomorphologist with expertise in Quaternary landscape interpretation and deciphering causes of change in fluvial and glacial systems. I have written 46 peer-reviewed articles on topics including the geomorphology of past floods, glacial lake outburst flooding, and glacial landsystems, and have field research experience in the UK, Spain, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. I have 17 years’ teaching experience in physical geography and (over the last 7 years) GIS. My skill-set includes landform mapping, sedimentology, remote sensing (e.g. geomorphological interpretation of LiDAR and land observation satellite data), GIS, and hydraulic flood modelling. I use ArcGIS Pro for my research and GIS teaching, and HEC-RAS flood modelling software. I have experience of research project management, including two EC funded grants.
