Biography
Warren C. (“Chris”) Jochem is a Data Scientist at Ordnance Survey with more than 15 years of experience delivering applied research and development projects across academic and government sectors. Trained as a geographer, he holds a PhD in Geography and postgraduate qualifications in demography. His work combines expertise in human geography, statistical modelling, and software development to address complex spatial data challenges. Before joining Ordnance Survey, Chris was a senior research fellow at WorldPop at the University of Southampton, where he developed novel modelling approaches to estimate and map population distributions, health outcomes, and settlement types. He is also the author and maintainer of several open-source software packages supporting reproducible geospatial analysis. His interests focus on integrating geography and data science methods to better understand patterns and processes across human and physical systems. His current work includes developing geographic data science methods for national-scale analytics and advancing geospatial AI.
