Biography
Barnaby Burman is a Technical Director and Chartered Geographer specialising in geospatial technology, data engineering and digital transformation for environmental and infrastructure projects. With more than 20 years’ experience, he has led the design and delivery of data-driven systems supporting environmental monitoring, spatial analysis, stakeholder engagement, ecology, carbon assessment and major infrastructure programmes. His work combines advanced GIS, database architecture, software development and digital advisory, with a strong focus on turning complex technical requirements into practical, scalable tools for project teams and clients. Barnaby has worked across the UK and internationally, including assignments in Africa and support for major transport, water and energy programmes. He is particularly interested in the role of geospatial data in improving decision-making, operational efficiency and environmental outcomes. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Chartered Geographer in GIS. He supports professional development and adoption of emerging digital methods across multidisciplinary teams.
