Biography

Brendan has over thirty years’ experience as geography teacher, head of department and pastoral lead in three maintained schools and one independent school. He led his current department to become a Geographical Association Centre of Excellence twice. Brendan led geography for the Oak National Academy 2022-23. Among various specialisms, Brendan offers extensive classroom experience in the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in schools. He is an author and presenter of conventional and online educational resources for a range of publishers including Oak National Academy and a suite of new GIS apps (e.g. Geo Mapper). Brendan regularly lectures at conferences including the Geographical Association Conference, researchED and at various TeachMeet events. He has up to date knowledge and experience with Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Early Career Framework (ECF) and supports other schools in many ways e.g. primary school networks; GIS training and support (Esri Geomentor; Erasmus Plus projects).
