Biography
A geospatial professional with experience in engineering, innovation and IT as well as geography, Roly has a particular interest in the use of remote sensing and GIS for planning and decision making. From 2016-19 he was the British Army’s senior Geographer, providing functional leadership for more than 500 Royal Engineer Geographic specialists. From 2019-23 he was the MOD’s senior geospatial intelligence staff officer, with responsibility for capability delivery, policy, data standards and international engagement with NATO. On leaving the Army in 2023 he joined the Civil Service as a member of the senior leadership team in the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence. Appointed MBE in 2007 and OBE in 2023.
