Biography
My skills in installing, debugging and optimisation of complex computer models using PCs and HPCs allow me to support research projects in Physical Geography at Exeter University, expertise which is not always found in Geography departments. I act as the drone and photogrammetry technician for the department, helping to carry out field work and analysis of drone imagery. I am also involved in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students on subjects such as GIS, remote sensing and spatial analysis using Python, R and GDAL. This takes the form of direct lecturing, assisting with taught computer-based practicals and advice and guidance on technical aspects of undergraduate dissertations. I won the Exeter University Students' Guild ""Champion for Students"" teaching award in June 2023 in recognition of my teaching excellence. I look after departmental computer kit as a Research IT specialist, helping to put together and configure workstations (PC, Linux, Mac) and provide first line general technical support for Geography staff and students.
