David Thames CGeog is an accomplished geospatial professional with over two decades of experience specialising in environmental, heritage, and natural resource spatial data. He currently serves as the Corporate GIS Manager for Historic England, where he oversees enterprise-level GIS systems, spatial analysis, and high-quality cartographic output. Throughout his career, David has held senior analytical and management roles across the public and non-profit sectors, including the National Trust, the UK Hydrographic Office, and the Queensland Government’s Department of Environment and Heritage Protection. Combining robust academic foundations, including an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Management and a BSc in Geography and Topographic Science, David excels at translating complex spatial data into strategic, quality-assured policies and technical solutions that support long-term environmental and cultural sustainability.
