Biography
Fiann Paul began his career in urban planning and architecture and holds four academic degrees. For more than 15 years, he has worked as an interdisciplinary geographer, combining exploration, research, leadership, and public engagement. He has achieved 42 Guinness World Records and led pioneering oceanic and polar expeditions. In 2020, he became the first person to complete the Ocean Explorers Grand Slam and remains the only person to have rowed all five oceans. He also holds more than a dozen “World’s First” titles in polar exploration. He has received the titles of Honorary Master Mariner, European Engineer, and Freedom of the City of London. Having lived on six continents, he has a longstanding interest in anthropology and Indigenous cultures. Fiann is President of the Ocean Rowing Society International, where he developed a historical database of human-powered open-water exploration. He also speaks publicly on geography, exploration, leadership, resilience, and humanity’s relationship with extreme environments.
