Mr Jesse Smith CGeog (EO)
Biography
I am a Canadian physical geographer currently focused on glaciology (large icebergs) and forestry. I use remote sensing data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse these features and environments, and predict how they change over time. For example, where and when icebergs will break into separate, smaller icebergs, and how biomass of trees change with time. I have a special interest in developing tools to aid in these analyses automatically at scale using programming languages such as Python and R. I hold a BA with a Specialisation in Geography from Laurentian University (Sudbury, ON; 2017), and a MSc. in Geography with a Specialisation in Data Science from Carleton University (Ottawa, ON; 2020). I currently live in London, UK.
