John Kreft is a Chartered Geographer (GIS) and Principal Geohazards Specialist and Digital Lead based in Christchurch, New Zealand. With nearly 15 years’ experience, he specialises in applying geospatial technologies to understand and manage natural hazard risk. His work integrates GIS, data engineering and advanced analytics to transform how infrastructure resilience is assessed and communicated. John has led the development of innovative tools including national-scale risk assessment platforms, digital twins and real-time hazard early warning systems. He is recognised for bridging geotechnical expertise and digital innovation, using technologies such as FME and InSAR to enable evidence-based decision making.
