Biography
I have an MA in International Boundaries (King’s College London) and BSC Hons in Cartography and Geography (Oxford Polytechnic) and 40 years of experience. Whilst primarily involved in providing Geospatial support to Defence, my experience ranges from map production and evaluation, operational support, IT capability and data schema development, research, policy, managing requirements, international partner engagement / training and Aeronautical Information. As international boundaries SME I advised governments, resolved boundary issues at the diplomatic level and lecture at Kings College. As a former Army Reservist, I have practical experience of coalition operational delivery and commanded the Reservist Geo unit. My last post before retirement was Head of Learning and Development at the Defence Geographic Centre responsible for recruitment/retention, developing and delivering Geo training, staff development/career paths, defining the Defence Geography profession, outreach to academia and professional bodies and the additional role of Government Geography Profession Deputy Head for Outreach and recruitment pipeline.
