Biography

Sean started teaching in September 2015 after a long-term career as a police officer. He was appointed subject leader at his current school in April 2019. He had a clear vision of how to improve the standing of the Geography Department. This vision focused on a review of the curriculum, a wider variety of teaching styles and greater fieldwork opportunities. Ultimately, his aim was to increase the popularity and success of Geography at GCSE and A level through improved quality of teaching and learning. He adopted a number of strategies to deliver his vision. The result is a much more respected, healthier department which is recognised internally and externally for its strong exam results and opportunities afforded to its students. This was evidenced in and supported the department achieving the Geographical Association Quality Mark award in 2024. Since then, Sean has continued to lead the department to successful public examination results (the best in the school at 2025 A level) and fieldwork opportunities.
