Biography

Helen Bartlett is a senior data governance professional at the UK Ministry of Justice (MoJ), where she serves in a lead role overseeing data governance, metadata, and quality practices across the organisation. Helen plays a key role in shaping and implementing the standards, frameworks, and policies that ensure MoJ data is well managed, trustworthy, and fit for purpose. With a strong professional grounding in data management, including DAMA CDMP plus specialist exams in data governance and data quality, she brings specialist expertise in establishing robust governance structures, improving data literacy, and embedding best practice across multidisciplinary teams. Her work directly supports the MoJ’s ambition to become a more data driven organisation, enabling reliable, high quality data to underpin operational delivery, analytical insight, and evidence based policymaking across the justice system. In addition to her core role, Helen is an active contributor to the wider data profession, participating in cross government and industry communities such as DAMA UK committee, as well as being a Fellow and committee member of the Royal Geographical Society. Through these committees and professional networks, she supports collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of data management standards across the public sector.
